Now that has been said, the main character, Bryon saved his sister at the price of going to jail. Living in a culture that derides being bisexual or gay as a man, he must hide any and all feelings. It wasn’t hard until his sister started dating her new boyfriend. The feelings he had for him pushed him mentally to the wall.
The issue was, the sister’s boyfriend, Ren isn’t and wasn’t a good guy. I don’t mean morally gray but turns around. I mean morally black and loves it. Growing up in an environment were being bisexual or gay was frowned upon, Ren was repressed. His childhood was perfect, at least to the outside world. Internally it wasn’t, as many ‘perfect’ families seem to be. He willing continued to pay the price, at least he believed he was.
When they first met it was a spark, but that spark couldn’t survive. So Ren took matters into his own hands.
This book was hard for me, not because it wasn’t a romance, I knew that going in. It was hard for a couple of reasons. The first is it is a m/m which I was expecting, but most of the spicy scenes were M/F. Okay I can get past that, because it was about the captive/captor story more than the spicy side.
Then it got to the ending. It was a perfect stand alone, it ended, in my opinion amazingly. I was reading to review and move on. Then the author added the actual ending and I am now blah about the book. If the author had made it a stand alone it would have been a solid 4.5 stars. The premise of the story is dark. There were demented scenes. Overall a good story. However by adding on that last bit, it made the entire story seem less.
The inclusion of different characterst throughout the story line helped to create a well balanced story. If it had just been other characters and then Ren and Bryon I think it would have fallen more two dimensional, but adding in the sister throughout and the waitress and other side characters it helped.
Will I read the second book in the series? ehh probably not honestly. I like how it ended without the additional 10 pages so in my mind that is where it is going to stay.
